Newbie to MTB i'm getting mud and small stone chips( from cycle routes) into the gearchange at the bottom of my seat post frame for the pedal gears, is there any sort of mudguard ?
A Crudcatcher would help do as you describe. Some frames come with lugs on the underneath of the down tube, or else they just fix on with rubber straps.

^^ that won't help - it may stop most of the mud being thrown up your back but it will still accumuilate at the bottom bracket.
you need a mudguard that attaches close to the bottom bracket, struggling to find a photo of this - i have done this to my bike but it needed a bracket to be made.
As has already been said, don't worry about it. In all my years on an MTB I have at times ridden in some horrific conditions where the bike has become caked in whatever muck I have been riding through and I can honestly say the front mech has NEVER been affected. The slimed up chain or the rear mech is more likely to be a problem. Even when the front mech has been left caked and has dried out it still works without fail, the muck just crumbles and falls off.
don't worry about it until the weather gets well below freezing - then when your derailleur is frozen solid it is no longer an issue!
never had an issue and like others above cycled in all sorts of crappy weather all year round and never had an issue (except when my derailleur freezes!)
