Hi All,

I am considering purchasing a bike to commute to work and I need some advice with regards to clothing.

To have a chance of succeeding with my plan I know I must have the right kit to cope with the weather and distance. Any advice as to what I need to buy and where to go.

As I'm starting this in the winter I need gloves, cycle trousers (padded for the distance?), a Jersey and water proofs. I'm on a budget so if anyone can advise on the most cost effective way of doing this and I know that my list isn't comprehensive.

The main thing is staying warm and dry but not overheating and sweating too much.

Any advice appreciated along with link online as to where to buy and products etc...

Many thanks,
John

How far are you commuting...I don't see it in your post

You will struggle to stay dry with budget kit unless you want to boil in the bag

I think if you want to avoid it, you'll either need decent windproofs and stay as warm as you can but get wet or put your hands deep in your pockets for very technical fabrics which are low risk of BITB
