I have a btwin allur 700 bike with standard btwin wheelset. I had a little crash a few months back and I have slightly bent my back wheel. I was thinking to go for a lighter set of wheels as an excuse.
Does anyone have any suggestion? My budget is < £300.

How slight is slightly bent? If it's just a loose or broken spoke, will be worth fixing. At this time of the year, with bad weather and roads, a lot of us will use their "old wheels" with heavier tyres and mudguards etc, so any benefit from better wheels will be lost. If you have the budget, though, having a good/better pair of wheels, with lighter tyres will really be noticed when we get round to spring and the better weather.

Cheers Keith

Thank for the replies. Is not that badly bent. I can still cycle, I just had to make the back brake loose so it doesn't touch it. I'm just looking at the moment for a new wheelset. No real hurry to replace it unless I find a Really good deal
Thank you for the suggestions

May be worth someone having a look at it, especiallyif your braking is effected. Even if rim is out a bit you may find brakes catching at certain point and you'll spot wear your tyre. If you want something to get you through winter Shimano r501s are cheap and good (less than 70 for a set) assuming it's the old 105 10 speed.

If you can get through winter and want to spend the £300, these c aught my eye the other day http://road.cc/content/review/170567-miche-syntium-axy-wheelset I know they are just over but review looks good

As have I on the winter bike, for just over £60 on offer they're unbeatable. Like the look of those Superstars though.

R500s on my winter commuter, R500s being essentially the same as R501s....astounding wheels for the money. Bombproof, only had to service my front hub after 4 years of serious winter commuting.
R501s, circa £70, 1884 g a set.
Fulcrum 5 LGs for instance, around £150, very good wheels as well come in at 1650ish grams,
Fulcrum 3s, circa £280, I have no experience of the, come in at 1550g.
You start to spend some serious money to shave grammes off...
