The Khamsins will be as clicky maybe even more than the Fulcrums (they may even be the same wheel as they are both made my Campag), ask anyone on here who has ridden with me .

I think it's more of a Campag trait though. I've now got Scirrocco wheels and although a lot quieter than the khamsins they still make a noise (but one I quite like).

Can't comment on the FSAs.

I bought a pair of Racing 7's for my winter bike and was really worried that I'd be annoyed by the freehub; it was noticeable at the start, but I now I don't mind it at all, it's quite a nice sound. One thing I would say is that the FSA's will be heavier than the 7's and the Khamsins will be about the same. If you're going for an upgrade, spend a bit more on Racing 5's or something to get a bit of a weight saving if that's what you're after.

I have Racing 5's on my shimano equipped bike, the hub is pretty noisy for a shimano one but still not a patch on some of the campag wheels the rest of the club run. You can hear them coming from miles off!

There arent many wheels as loud as the 7's

The Racing 5's have a nice clicky noise, but I miss the properly loud clicking you get from the 7's.

You just take the freehub off and pop some grease on the exposed hub main body where the pawls contact.

Try not to get any on the pawls as they can get sticky downy.

What I really want is another set of Fulcrum 7's. The same as my previous set... I.e. Red hubs, red rims, campag freewheel... Cannot be found for love nor money.. (closest I can find is red hubs, black rims.) Has anyone seen any that match the above description anywhere... I have eBay alerting me for new posts of the fulcrum nature....

P.S. Pete - is that to make the wheels louder or quieter.... I would have thought that taking the things, and drying them out completely would make them noisy as anything... but also wear out a bit quick...

I just got some Racing 5's...but in silver from Merlin Cycles...£149 !!! A serious saving, but in silver (hubs are silver too). TBF, i was worried how they'd look after black rims, but they look just as good on my Bianchi

Campag (Fulcrum) don't put any grease in - which is why they are noisy.

I can only presume that this is to prevent the pawls from sticking down.

If you give the hub a thin coating as suggested it will quieten the hub down considerably although how long it lasts depends on your mileage.

You've got a problem my friend (insert smiley face)
Yes, they are. How clicky i'm not sure, but you certainly know they're there. I always try to find the positive in things..i work on the principle that people will know i'm coming, especially peds.
I found some clips on youtube re the clickiness. Yes, indoors, they sound clicky as hell (as on the clips) but out on the road...i don't find them obtrusive.

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
I have Mavic Aksiums - Campag - not silent (compared with Shimano freehub on other bike - which is) but very quiet.
