i've just bought a new (£400) telly from argos, and it isn't working. who can guide me through the art of TV repair in a couple of sentences, to save me taking it back to the shop for mending? i'm a mile and a half from the shop:biggrin:

you bought a new telly, which doesn't work. and your not taking it back?

OH PLEASE tell me where you live, i will pick that TV up and take it to argos my self and get it replaced. love these sorts of situations.

If you literally just bought it, and it hasn't worked, they have to replace it rather than fix it. It's all part of the sales of goods act.

Are you nuts? As Gaz said, they won't fix it, they have to replace it on the spot - or give you your money back. The moment you start fiddling with it, you risk invalidating the guarantee and ending up with a large £400 paperweight.

I've lost count of the number of times I've had to drive down to my father in law's house to sort things when he'd 'tried everything' except switching the blasted thing on!
