Have been wearing some cheap Decathlon shoes for the last 9 months, but was getting some aches and pains in my feet, especially as my distances increase
Went to my local Evans, partly because I had some vouchers to spend there, and also because I was nervous about buying shoes online without trying them on
The guy in the shop was great, and I settled on a pair of Specialised MTB shoes .... http://www.evanscycles.com/products/specialized/bg-comp-mtb-shoe-ec026153
I ride in SPD cleats as I find them easier to clip in and out of.
Evans priced matched the best web price I could find using ShopSavvy app on my phone, so I got them for £80
Had my first ride today and WOW!
I feel so much more connected with the bike, and the ratchet clip ensured no slipping
Ive increased my average speed and felt so much more comfortable on the bike
Even allowing for a bit of the placebo effect, I think this is a pretty good result
So, I would recommend a shoe upgrade to anyone looking for a increase in comfort and performance.
