I have just come across a new mapping site - CourseMapper.
It looks to have some really nice features, including the ability to plot a course and load it directly to an Edge as either a course or a track. It is also compatible with other Garmin GPS devices.
I have plotted a route and sent it to my Edge 305 as a course file and all looks good. It's the seamless kind of integration I have been looking for for a while now, none of this messing around saving as one format, converting to .crs and using Garmin Training Centre to send to the Edge.
Since the demise of mapmyride, it's exactly the sort of thing I've been looking for... plus some. (In fairness, "demise" is not quite true but it's become so damned slow as to be unusable and the download to crs has stopped completely for me.)
