I have more cycle shoes than normal shoes and im a bloke ,4 pairs of cyclign shoes, i pair of shoes i got married in( 16 years ago ) , 2 pairs of trainers.

SPD cleats are mounted on a shoe, recessed oddly enough....they are designed for walking in.

Yes but they are only usually recessed on mtb shoes. These are road shoes. Well "touring" shoes as they've labeled them

You have been missing out I have 2 pairs for years that are road type shoes with recessed cleats. Come to think of it I don't think I've ever seen spd shoes of any kind without recessed cleats.
