Hi all after a bit of advice, I'm a 51 year old 15st guy been riding a few months on a Genesis CDA which has been really comfortable for riding the sort of 60k runs (17pmh runs) I am up to on the Norfolk back roads.
I know want to spend up say £1,200 on something that's a bit quicker, plenty of options out there any ideas on something suitable please?

You might find something that feels a bit more nimble but a change of tyres on your current mount should work wonders for a fraction of the cost of a new bike. Looking at the specs of your CDA it has 40c tyres, changing them to something like 32c would make a big difference to how the bike feels and rides. Some might say change the wheels but just changing the tyres will give you the biggest difference for less outlay.

Hi thanks it's probably a bit small as I am 5 11inches. I'd be happy to stick with a genesis it doesn't give me any back pain which has been an issue in the past.

then you need to look at the geometry for anything new compared to the CDA
However, as above, just put thinner lighter slicker tyres on your existing bike?

I bought the bike second hand and it has Alex XD Elite rims with 700 x 25c tyres which sounds like they aren't the originals? Are they any good?

Those are the heaviest slowest tyres in Christendom!
Get something lighter, more supple in a 25 or 28 (even if you might get a puncture, but you’ll be prepared). Vittoria Rubino roll well but are still pretty puncture resistant
