New Protour concept

There's a piece in the paper here today saying that the Tour, Vuelta and Giro will not be part of the Protour next year. UCI boss Pat MacQuaid says that after three years of opposition, the UCI has given into to all the big race organisers' demands and will work out a new concept for the Protour in 2008.

The timing surprises me, given that the 2007 tour was a pantomime.
