Hi,

I've bought a bike helmet from my LBS, a kask rapido, but on getting it home I'm still not sure it's the right fit.I'm a little concerned there's too much sideways movement but I'm not sure how much movement is okay.

The guy in the shop seemed to think it would be ok (I didn't have too much confidence in his opinion) but I can take it back if I'm stil not happy.

How much movement is safe?

Thanks
James

It should not be tight on your head but if it moves around on your head and you can't adjust the fit it is too big for you.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Different helmets fit different shaped heads. If it's rolling around on your head it will just annoy you when you are riding. Is there a back adjustment wheel to alter the circumference slightly?

Sorry, I probably wasn't clear enough in my post. it's the right size as it is tight, tip my head upside down without the straps and it doesn't fall off. I think the issue's the shape or maybe I'm expecting too much, it's been a long time since I last had one.
The pressure's at the front and back. It doesn't wobble much when I shake my head but if I move it with my hand I can roll it down until the strap is tugging on my ear and the helmet is touching the other.

It sounds like a bad fit. If you can't adjust the side shape, it'll probably never fit. If you can move it that much with your hands, it could move in a crash enough to do you a mischief, couldn't it?

There shouldn't be any actual pressure - sounds like your head is the wrong shape for it. Take it back.

Should be comfortable, really should be fairly unaware of it on your head. If there's pressure, take it back, it may give you a headache on longer rides.

I probably tried 15 or 20 models on before finding one that is comfortable in that way

Okay, thanks all, didn't think it was right. Glad I checked with you guys.

Going to have to make trip to a not so local LBS or do what the guy in Evans recommended - buy a load online and then send them back!
