Waiting for delivery of a Shimano Deore 610/615 10 Speed Transmission Groupset to replace the sad old LX 7spd, does anyone use this group and is there any problems that have manifested themselves....... or:thumbsdown:

Deore is great kit. It benefits from trickle down tech, and compared with your trusty old LX is streets ahead. Good value for money. Enjoy.

LX 7-speed!!
My wifes old Bear Valley had that, I think?? (but the silver derivative, & before the Dura-Ace/XTR style chainset, with the low-pro cranks)

Yes, I know the bike is a 1996 Orange clockwork still going strong should be spot on with new groupset, its still got cantilever brakes on too, got some V brakes to go on as well.......

My 1996 orange c16r is currently having worn out parts replaced. Originally stx-rc 8 speed. So new far shifters + cables, cassette +chain, bar +grips, regreased headset and new tyres as the velociraptor tyres were cracking. Just the v brakes and cables left to swap out. It just got to the point where everything was on its way out.

Took it for a couple of great rides on irish mountain trails and forestry. Makes you remember how good bikes were then and how much marketing bs we get fed these days
