Hi
I am looking to upgrade the front wheel ONLY on my bike which were on originally from purchase.

My bike is a MONTAGUE PARATROOPER and strangely has a disc specific wheel on the front and rim specific wheel at the rear [its just how the frame is..]

I am looking to buy a new front wheel ONLY cos its over 6 yrs old.

My question is - will the benefits of buying a fairly good 26" front wheel ONLY [i.e. light and stiff] be offset by a rear wheel which is mediocre? [the rear wheel is a decathlon standard double wall about 4 months old].
Or is it the case that both front and rear wheels need to be upgraded to accrue the benefits of reducing rolling mass

I am looking at either the MAVIC CROSSONE at £75. Or the EASTON EA70 XCT at £105

Would i be wasting money on a better wheel as opposed to a mediocre one which matches the rear one in terms of quality
Thank you

Don't really get what you are asking. But I wouldn't worry about having one wheel better than the other. May as well get a decent front wheel because you will have it for a good while with it being disc.

Rear wheel gets taxed a bit more usually. Except on the braking subject. Is why they tend to have more spokes etc.

Why do you need a new front wheel? That bike must weigh a ton; as posted above save your money and put it in a piggy bank towards a lighter bike instead. Get an alloy hardtail or a full rigid hybrid and fit it with some commuter tyres and it will go faster than that folding thing ever will.
