First time for riding this event (to my shame I only live about 30 miles away!)
A fantastic day all round. Really well organised, great route and weather was on the button.
Special thanks to the three guys from MidOxon Cycle Club that allowed me to tag along.

I did the Saturday ride...It was indeed a fabulous day. Great organisation, facilities & planning.
And I have to say I was impressed with the standard of the roads - I'm not sure what I expected, the word 'Forest' had conjured up potholed, rutted tracks - But high fives to the NFDC, I think I only saw about 3 or 4 pot holes the whole route, I get that in less then 4 feet of road at home!!

most of the roads were great but on Roger Penny Way blasting along at about 20mph the friend i was riding with hit a pothole that i tried to point out but was too late. Pinch puncture took over 10 mins to fix and that put us outside of the silver time limit.

having said that it was a great day out and average riding speed not including the puncture and cake stop at Godshill was 16.9mph; i'm happy with that. It's the 2nd year that i've done this ride and both times it has been well run and great weather!

My second time too, knocked a whole thirty seconds off last year's time... But then, this time I rode in the whole way from Pompey, didn't get there till 9.40 (and the team were unsurprisingly keen for the last few to get going), so basically was in and out of the college. Good day, though Blissford Hill beat me again. 4:35 and a bit, firmly in bronze territory but I couldn't care less

I hate hills!
I live right on the South Downs, the majority of my daily commute is on the flat, but family rides take us all over them, if I have my sons tariler on the back then I have to get off & push, noway I can haul near 8stone up one LOL!

I was riding a new bike on Sat, & was impressed with how easy we took some of the 'slopes' then I hit Bissford.. I managed about 1/4 way up before my legs turned to jelly & I landed, quite painfully on my crossbar, Thnak goodness for padded shorts!
