New chainset

Just ordered a new bike for my son. I'll want a new chainset on it. Ideally 28/34 - 28/36 or similar.

Something light, strong and cheap. (Sorry Keith).

ANy of you stalwart surfers know where such a thing can be purchased?

You'll struggle......28/34-36 won't fit most double's PCD's even compacts - you'll be looking at bodging an MTB chainset - it's the 28 bottom that's the big issue - i.e. MTB inner and middle only, no outer, then add in crank length for a youngster ? -

No, Islabikes won't do. I guess it'd be a 104 BCD?

Good call on the crank length though. I'd want it in 165mm.

oh. you said cheap. never mind.
although - they've got gold bits on - play it right and you could save on car washing fees for quite a while .
