Trying to find cycling glasses that I can wear in conjunction with prescription lenses without them being both ridiculously expensive and so large they make you look like a bug any ideas

These are nice, I used them for many years for flying, but also good for cycling..

They only seem to do frames or slip-ons, not prescription lenses - if that is what the OP means, fine.
OTOH if he wants cycling glasses containing prescription lenses, a lot of us use http://www.optilabs.com/site/prods.php?pfid=0,8,11,17 Not cheap but excellent quality and a very good service. They have also re-lensed mine twice as my prescription changed.
