new bike: racing or training

been riding again for about 6months on a 10yr old carrera virtuise that as always felt too small.
ive done loads of 30 milers and and a couple of 50s, ive also joined a local club and done a couple of TT, a 5 mile in 15.12 and 10 miles in 31.41
anyway i have £1000 "cycle to work" vouchers to spend but not sure whether to buy a good training bike like a ribble winter trainier to get some good training miles in and use the carrera for the last few TT on the clubs calender or buy a nice racer for my training rides and club TT and use the carrera for bad weather

If your focus is TT's then why not buy a TT bike?

bit early for a TT bike, ive only completed 2, need to get some fitness and weight loss first

in which case, I'd go for option 2 - buy a new 'best' road bike and use the Carerra for winter...

One lad in my work had his TT taken off him as the contract states it has to be used more for going to work and back. They said the shop shouldn't of given it to him as he couldn't get to work on it.
