So I received my new road bike today, previously been using two hybrids which I have thoroughly enjoyed. Both my hybrids have got armadillo tyres on them and want to get puncture resistant tyres for my Giant and not sure if anyone has any recommendations.

Tyres are currently bog standard 700x23 and want to spend at most £50 for the pair and the majority of their use will be my daily commute with a fairly regular tour around my local area so performance (competition) isn't too high on my priorities.

Also never before used cleats etc and I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions and if there were any deals for cleats and shoes combo's they had spotted recently? Ideally I would use soled shoes so I could run / cycle without having to change.

Any ideas gratefully received

Tyres: I'd opt for a pair of 700 x 25 continental gatorskins.

Gatorskins certainly polarise opinions. I personally hate them, they have very dodgy grip in the wet, and I've never been impressed with the puncture resistance or wear.

I'd go with Michelin Krylion Carbon, probably the best all round 700x23 tyre on the market. Failing that, Bontrager Racelite Hardcase are also excellent tyres.
