hello

as you may already know thinking of getting my first road bike for next year.

i think that i have narrowed it down to just 2 bikes both verenti.

verenti rhigos 03 (carbon)
verenti millook (alu frame & carbon rear stays)

they both have the same components on them only diff is the frame material carbon or alu.

which is best to go for, for comfort mainly.

rhigos
millook

no decent LBS near me for test rides and not many road bikes to choose from. counted 4 in total all raleigh which i dont want.

Hi Terry.

I quite fancy owning a carbon fibre bike one day, but to be honest, my old CAAD 5 Cannondale is good enough for me. It doesn't have any carbon fibre in the frame, though the fork blades are CF. It has a very stiff aluminium frame and sure enough, it is pretty uncomfortable on rough roads. The thing is - that problem can be easily fixed by letting some air out of the tyres.

If you are happy to ride with your tyres at 90-100 psi, then I'd suggest that you save some money and go for the Al/CF Millook. If you want to ride with tyres at 110+ psi, then perhaps the CF Rhigos would be more suitable.

Both bikes get very good reviews and I'm sure that you'd enjoy riding either of them.

If you bought the cheaper bike, you could buy cycling clothing, shoes, helmet, tools, maybe even a GPS with the £250 you saved.

I'm not an experienced Road cyclist only just moved up from a hybrid to a road bike last week.

All I can say is that after a lot of looking around and soul searching I decided to go for the Millook. It arrived last week and just needed the handlebars fitting (4 bolts), pedals put on and the seat lowered by 1/2".

I've only been out on it twice over the weekend (both short 8 mile spurts as I'm getting over a very bad cold [man flu!]) but it was fast, stable, light and comfortable. I was surprised how comfortable the ride was as I'd been warned about the harder ride going from a hybrid with seat suspension to road bike but although only 8 miles it was fine. It's probably the carbon rear end and forks.

Of course the Rhigos are full carbon and would therefore probably be even more comfortable but then the price reflects that extra carbon.
