Hi

I am just getting into road biking and was after some adivce on what would be a good bike to get as there seem so many to choose from and I just get lost in the specifications

I have a budget of £600-£800
most of the rides I do are hilly 2-3hr routes
would mainly be using it for leisure rides/fitness,

any suggestions?

In this price range there is a lot of choice.

One key thing to remember:

Get a bike that fits perfectly. Most bikes increase from one size to the next in fairly big jumps. It's quite possible that you may fall in-between sizes. If this is the case, forget it and try another bike. Geometry also varies from bike to bike (brand to brand) so try a few different ones.

So how do you know if it's the correct size? Good question - experience and good advice. Try it and see how it feels, speak to a decent bike shop and try a few different bikes first even if they are out of your budget just to get a feel for size.

Buying the incorrect size bike will massively decrease your cycling enjoyment.

Hello, I am in the same boat as you. I have been looking for a couple of weeks now and am in the process of test riding some this week. These are links to some of the bikes I have looked at. They all seem to have good reviews. From first impressions, I like the look of both Specialized bikes. Hope this helps - Nick

Not much help, but I saw the Bianchi in a shop today. Gorgeous bike. Now where does the rack and panniers go...
