new bike advice wanted please help!!

Hi,

ive got £ 800 ish to spend on a new road bike. im looking at a few different bikes and i would like some advice. ive got a commuting bike so its just for weekends and going on holiday with. These are a few of the bikes ive been looking at :

Eddy Merckx AMX-1 Tiagra 2010
Orbea San Remo CT
Trek 1.5 Compact 2010
Lapierre Audacio 300
Bianchi Via Nirone 7 Tiagra
Lapierre Audacio 400 D
Focus Cayo 105 Compact 2010
Basso Devil Xenon 2010
Cinelli Dinamo

Im open to suggestions on other bikes orbea i think looks the best but you guys know more about it than me.

If you can stretch to a grand that becomes a magic price point it seems to me...with the Boardman Comp or Planet X you can get a full carbon with decent components - far better value than the ones you're looking at i'd say. If you think there's *any* chance of wanting to upgrade in the next year or two, I'd definitely wait until I could afford the extra 200 and get the boardman or planet X

the boardman "team carbon" is now £1200. the comp is the lower spec model at around £600. the boardman team (ali) is a very nice bike. rides real nice :wub:

From your shortlist I have only tried the Trek 1.5 and the Bianchi. I bought the Bianchi and have no regrets at all. I have had the bike for just over 2 weeks and have racked up over 300 miles. It's a great bike, looks fantastic imo and is very comfortable.

I am sure there are better value bikes out there but it is important to love the looks of your bike to inspire you to ride more.

I would take a look at the 'Verenti' range by wiggle. I think their Kilmeston is around that price bracket if you can stretch a few more £'s.
