That must be the shortest actual post ever!

@ Surfdude, well, it's hard for anyone else to say really. Depends how keen you are on having a better spec, how much riding you do, how desperately you need that extra £202, and how much value you place on having your LBS fit you up properly versus getting a bargain on t'internet that might need tweaks/adjustment. And how sure you are of the size you need, come to that. However all things remaining equal, I would generally like to go with the better spec if I could afford it, rather than get a cheaper one and never be quite sure what I was missing. That's just me though. I can't really say in your case because I don't know how much better Tiagra is than Sora, or how much better the Shimano wheels are over the standard ones that come on the 2. But if you end up with a bike that's the wrong size or badly built, all bets are off, so be nice to your LBS I say.

If the 1 is from your LBS and you won't miss that 200 quid, I'd be even more inclined to go with the 1. I've had a couple of bikes mail order, and had fairly good experiences, but then the bikes were from proper shops that traded on the internet as well, rather than warehouse clearance merchants. Even so, one of them had a badly routed cable that ended up eating into the frame underneath the bottom bracket (full bounce MTB) which I never noticed until some wear had occurred.

My Giant road bike (TCR composite with Campag) I actually got off ebay (which I was a bit nervous about), but it turned out to have been really looked after by the previous owner, and I was well chuffed that I got such a good spec for 'such little (ahem)' cash, because it really does make riding it more appealing. Go, on, treat yerself!
