Just bought a Cree light (Wow it's bright!!!). The battery pack is separate and is held in a holder that is strapped around one of the tubes (haven't tried yet!!!). I'm a bit worried about how waterproof it might be so am thinking about butchering a waterbottle for it to sit in. Anyone tried this or has a better idea...or am I even being overcautious??? I know it wasn't expensive but feeling the pinch at the moment and have to make sure that it lasts the winter (and next one too hopefully!)
Thanks,
Russ

No its not waterproof. Is the cable long enough to wrap around the length of the top tube into a saddlepack ? Or if not then a toepeak dry bag will do the job.

Depends if its sealed in rubber or not. The magicshine packs are waterproof.
I have the One23 which is essentially the same as Magicshine and mine too is waterproof. Both these lights are the same as the Cree cheapo from ebay but with a bit more quality control for the UK market (and slightly higher price tag). I paid £60 but have full UK warranty and my light is going strong.

That's exactly what I do on my commuter. Batteries in a 750mm bottle with just enough room for a tube and levers. I had to remove te spout to feed the connector through so sealed the resulting hole with a dab of silicone.

You'd probably want to get another bag, there pants if you pull on the straps to tighten them.

I used run it to my saddlebag but using the straps from a torch mount, I just them and tie on the under side of the stem.
