Any 8 speed mountain bike chain, SRAM are a good make for example you should be able to get from Halfords today
https://www.halfords.com/cycling/bi.../sram-pc850-bike-chain---8-speed-907535.html?
or if cheaper needed https://www.halfords.com/cycling/bi.../8spd-chain-114-links-silver/grey-423163.html

Chains don‘t snap often so its not really a question of one being stronger than another (keep it clean, lubed and use the gears correctly on hills for example)

Thanks. It was my fault I reckon .I changed gear before the hill and then went for it half way up snap .
Halfords dont have the sram in stock but can get this by tomorrow from Amazon will this work

Can't help but thinking you must have battery powered shoes!

Glad you got home. You could have tried flagging down a passing cyclist for a chain tool. I'm sure they would be happy to help.

Saw a GCN bodge last week with a cable tie holding a chain together. Might get you home with gentle pedalling.

last year, before covid, took 2 bikes into a shop for whatever reasons, on separate occasions, & the tech was great, he determined both bikes needed chains & quickly selected the correct chain & length, installed them & tweaked whatever he needed to tweak. both bikes work great. I shud bring my MTB in. love that shop

I have that KME chain on my 95 Cannondale (the one in my avatar) actually. Pairs really nicely with my shimano gears.
