Hi Waynester and welcome.

I suspect you may need to increase your budget if you want to really light up the road. some of the top notch LEDs will start at 4 times that price.

That said, they are often a great investment as they allow you to make the most of your initial investment (your bike) for longer into the year.

Someone'll be along in a moment to offer more practical advice.

Take care

that looks good, maybe get 2 of them and stick em on handlebars, that will surely light up the road! lol?

You should only need one. They are Chinese made with all the quality control that entails. Mine is ok and is certainly bright enough I just don't hold much hope in it lasting more than a year or so frankly. You would want a backup light of some description i.e a cree q5 torch.

Having 2 is good, you can point one down like a dipped beam and one longer like full beam you only use when cars arent approaching. The cheaper more powerful lights are brilliant for lighting stuff up, but can be really dazzling to oncoming traffic.

Someone on here (i think maybe Peteaud) recommended this company, a light I ordered was faulty and they sent another out immediately, excellent service from what Ive seen. They do a twin pack and single lights similar to the above. http://www.candb-seen.co.uk/bikehead-lights/xc-2400-lumen-bike-light.html

Don't read too much into "lumens" especially on ebay, the same lights are advertised with anything from 800 to 1800 lumens. The T6 LEDs are a bit brighter than the P7s though

I would imagine one would be enough. Judging from some youtube/google searches for "cree xml t6". Originally saw this thread which has some beam pics, http://www.cyclechat.net/threads/keygos-ke1-budget-front-light-torch-xml-t6.94880/ which resulted in me getting one of the bike type rather than torch type ones on the way over from Hong Kong at the moment. Will have to wait and see.

Just seen replies after i put this, that above "can be seen" links beam pics is crazy haha. Does make me wonder about dazzling though with these.

Those p7/xml t6 lights are very bright and you can ride at full speed even in completely unlit areas, be aware that stuff coming from china can take over a month so if your desperate you can get them from a uk supplier but you tend to pay a bit of a premium.
Found this..

check with the seller, says battery required s make sure its included as it shows it in the pictures.

Also dealextreme have an eu website that says 7-10 days shipping...

This is the sort of output you can expect from one of the XML-T6 lights - Image taken from my review which RhysB mentioned above.

This particular light is slightly different in that it is in the form of a torch, but it contains the same emitter/LED as the bike specific ones - The bike specific ones should have slightly longer battery life, but take a little bit longer to fit/remove (and I wanted something I could also use as a regular torch!).
