Need a new rear 26inch wheel, any recommendations?

Got to be light and fast, rim brakes, more rough roading and country paths than a super strength heavy wheel.

On a budget! Any ideas please?

I'd looked at the Mavic crossride and some of the custom jobs on chain reactions.

Thanks - £100 for a rear only at the moment. Something that takes 1.5- 1.95 tyres too! ;)
1kg and under is the aim

Unfortunately the wtb's seem to be disc only, which is the problem I'm having finding rims that are rim brake still.

I have a pair of Mavic Crossride. They are quite flexy, which doesn't bother me, and they are not light. Also, they look completely different to standard-style wheels so if you just replace one wheel it will look odd.

What about Shimano Deore hubs and Mavic rims? That seems a very popular combination. I've got those on my son's bike and they seem very solid.

I've just bought these yesterday http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_163011_langId_-1_categoryId_165455

it's £86 for the set and you'll get a further reduction this BH monday ... I use cantilever brakes on my hybrid and they fit fine, If your bike is a 21 speed like mine, I had a 7 speed cassett fitted with a spacer and that works a treat too.

Rims and spokes look tough as old boots, but I haven't tested them yet ;) but will do this weekend. Oh you'll need presta tube for these wheels

Hope it helps
