Need advice on new purchase...

Hi, am new so hope im posting in the right place.

Have a specialized myka which i use for off-road but find it slow on tarmac (especially when ppl whizz by on road bikes lol). So am looking to buy a road or hybrid, not sure which i should go for. Have been to a shop, didnt fidn them very helpful, get the feeling they were trying to rid old stock on me.

Any reccomendations for a 5ft 9, new to road/hybrid bike beginner? Budget up to 500-600 though eager to grab a bargain!

Probably a medium sized frame, what do your lbs' stock and would you go halfords?

My lbs stocks specialized, trek, claud butler, bianchi, marin and afew more, would rather use them over halfords to help out a small business.

Then convince them to let you test ride all the brands in your price bracket, and insist they help you adjust the bike to fit your body. It may take a bit of time in store but will be well worth it.

I'm 5'9". My Specialized is a large and suits me well. I agree with the above. The Sirrus range always does well in commuter tests. They look nippy!
