Hi, i have seen a 1994 dawes galaxy for sale an it looks in v. good condition (i would test before i bought). As i am fairly new to cycling i dont really have an idea of what these bikes would usually go for second hand. The seller is asking £250 no offers. Is this over the top or a resonable pirce? thanks in advance for any help

It depends a lot on specification and whether it is actually in good condition - no rust or dints in the frame, wheels straight and true, tyres with plenty of life, cables all in good order, no play in the bearings.

£250 sounds right at the top end for it to me, possibly over the top. I would only buy it if it is exactly what I wanted. Being told 'no offers' would put me off for a start.

Admittedly, I don't know as much as pretty much anyone on the issue of bikes as these lot, but from the modicum I've learned whilst shopping around for bikes and go to local stores, £250 for a 1994 model seems overpriced to me. It must have been serviced time and again and it's all round reliability surely can't be at a high ebb now.

And yeah, I'd make him an offer anyway, just because I'm a cheeky git though! ;)

I disagree.
Provided it's good, I reckon £250 is well worth it.
Like the others say, it has to be good though.

A new Galaxy is around £900 new, and it isn't as good a bike as the ones they were making in 1994. So long as it fits you, has been looked after and nothing needs replacing straight away (tyres, brakes, saddle, chain etc) then I'd snap it up if I was after that type of bike.
