Need a pair of SPD shoes ASAP.

I am in need of some recommendations for a pair of cycle shoes quickly. On the ride home from Sandbach a small crack in sole of one of my Lidl MTB shoes has developed into a full-blown split and is making clipping-in all but impossible.

I have £50-70 to spend on a good solid and comfortable, all-round shoe that would be okay in day to day use as well as on the roadie on the weekend and touring.

Many thanks in advance

you might want to consider mtb type spd shoes if its for more than occasional use I use these for commuting as they are easier to walk in than road shoes IMO

Mavic Pulse are very good. Comfortable to walk in - and look the part when on the road bike. Lots of good reviews. If buying online, get a half UK size bigger than what you normally wear. Can get then from about £50 (last years) to £70.

Also, Evans have the Mavic Razor cheap - like the Pulse but with a quick release strap. As do Wiggle (50% off).

I have ordered some of those - like the flat soles, not bothering with cleats (I have Tahoes too)

£40 from Evans at the mo (and you can get quidco and also 10-15% off if you buy 1 or 2 other items)

Yes an MTB type shoe would my preferred choice, I like to walk around off the bike and a shoe with the cleat sticking out below the sole would be a disadvantage.

I am liking the suggestions so far, the Mavic Razor looks quite alright but is unavailable in my size (Eur 45-46) at Evans but the Pulse comes in 10.5 from CRC for £55. My other choice is the MT42 from Evans which looks like a good, all-round shoe for just under £50.

I have now have a pair of Shimano M077 shoes on their way from Evans', they price matched Merlin within half an hour which is pretty exceptional so good on them

I ordered a size larger than what I usually buy (46 versus 45) so they SHOULD fit all being well.

Bugger, missed it. Great offer but none left in my size

My local Dec (Surrey Quays, London) appears to have most sizes from 41 to 47 and it looks like there's an order online choice. Can you not order online from my local store? Or is it a quirk of Decathlon that they'll only send them from the nearest store and not post them out from where they're available?

Thanks for all of your suggestions, my pair of M077 shoes arrived today in the post from Evans'. I am pleased to say that they fit me perfectly well and the spare SPD cleats I had lying around from a second set of pedals have been fitted and adjusted. I have done a about 1/2 a mile in these shoes and am happy with the stiffness of the sole and the fit.

Cheers guys
