but today had a close call, I was approaching some traffic lights they were on green and thought the car ahead was moving of but he wasn't was trying to go into the right hand land. very very nearly went into the back of him as my couldnt break in time. sort of luckily went into the side into some rails hurt my back a bit and side hip but apart from that all okay. really shook me up and have only just started feeling confident using traffic lights and going on busy roads.

Keep going on roads, don't let them get the better of you.
The main thing with riding in traffic is anticipating what the cars are going to do and remember, no matter how many lights you've got or how brightly coloured you are most drivers won't know you're there, awareness and anticipation are my key thoughts for road riding (in traffic anyway).
I love riding in traffic, I spend all day in a van so I find the commute is theraputic.

Yes, the price of experience... Similar thing happened to me a while ago. I think I just touched the guy in front's bumper after squeezing the brakes for all I was worth... Another lesson learned - they don't always move off when you expect!

Just make sure you're at least a couple of yards behind - more for a long vehicle.

i slid down the back of a van at temp lights not long ago ,before that i skidded into the back of another small van at a junction bottom of a particularly steep hill ,

you get used to it lol .

on both occasions i walked away with only pride dented and no damage to either myself or vehicles , all it took was a lapse of concentration and too much reliance on expectation .
