Not sure if this is allowed, but, what the heck !!
I recently took my old Raleigh Equippe road bike to "Whiptails" in Tynemouth, to see if a repair was feasible and economical, bearing in mind the age of the bike.
The owner gave me an estimate for a new rear derailleur, 6 speed cassette, new chain and a full servce. I asked him to price high, rather than too low then finding something esle, after all this was my first visit to the shop. The estimate I thought was very reasonable, so asked for the work to be carried out
On collection a couple of days later, several new spokes had been fitted as well as new ball bearings and cages.
When he gave me the price, it was even less than he had first quoted.
I was very pleased at the level of service and will certainly go back there.
So if you want a good, relaible repair, or indeed a new bike, give this company a ring.
