NCR 88 route blocked between St Mellons and newport

Sustrans opened a great new route 88 between Cardiff and Newport recently.

I have used it often but today I was dumbfounded to find it fly tipped so badly that I had to turn around as I could not get past. It is used by joggers and dog walkers aswell

I have reported it to Newport council (a 4 page online form good grief!) so hope it will be cleared soon.

Just a Heads up really, if you use this route

I havent used the new route yet.I usually just use the coast road from wentlooge and then go on a path near duffryn school that takes you across the fields then under the A48.
Unfortunately the lanes along there do get used as rubbish tips which is a great shame.

You couldn't get past? Why not? Yeah, it's a disgrace and all, I get that. But my grandmother could get past that.

Well done to the op for reporting it. I rooted through a similar pile in a Vale of Glamorgan lane near Llancardle once and found old envelopes with addresses. Took my "evidence" into the council offices in Barry .Don't know if they acted on it or not.
