Apologies to people who may have already discovered this but I only found about it today and it could be useful.

There is now a function on the NatWest app that lets you transfer money into a travel account and when you use your normal NatWest debit card abroad the money is used from this travel account without the usual charges associated with using a UK card abroad.

(You pick your destination currency dependant on where you are going)

It does have a limit on cash withdrawals but not for spending in shops / restaurants etc.

It may be of use to some and I expect other banks offer it as well.

Caveat - I think the Natwest Travel Account only works for Euros.

Yes, you are correct. Just been into it to check and there is no option to change currency. It's Euros or Euros 😊.

Maybe that will change in time.

I suspect they weight the exchange rate to cover their fees and it's not clear to me whether you can transfer them back if needed.

Near the end it says you can exchange them back.

I have opened an account as it could come in handy in the future. (We are still running down our Portuguese bank account so have a debit card for Euros for now)
