Narrower tyres on a cx bike

I am just about to replace the 35mm Rapid Robs on my cx bike with some 32mm Gatorskins but before I put them on I wondered what others have done? Will 32mm gators be sufficiently different to the 35mm to make the change worthwhile? Should I get slimmer gators? Or would having tyres that are too slim look ridiculous on a chunky cx bike?

Going from RR's to gatorskins will be the bigger difference even though they're small knobs @Fnaar

I don't worry a great deal about the sizing, I setup the mudguards on my CX for 30mm CX tyres but it spends more time on 28mm road tyres as a winter trainer. Neither looks out of place

When mine was used as a winter bike it had 25's on it. No issues.

I put 28s on mine. They look good and ride well.

Did you all use new tubes when changing to smaller tyres? I'm about to put some 28mm Contis onto my CX Team for a few weeks (currently using 35mm marathon Deluxe) and not sure what tubes it currently has in there.
I have some spare 28-38c tubes but would prefer to leave them in the wrapper if the current ones will be ok in 28c tyres.

My CX tyres range from 25's to 37's, depending on time of year and weather.

Here's mine with tubeless Hutchinson Sector 28's;

Been ossum so far;much.much better than the Vittoria Randonneurs 32c I had on before.Roll really nice and good on gravelly stuff too.

It depends where you plan to ride. I use 25/28 over winter on road and this time of the year 30/32 roubaix pro tyres for a combination of road and off road riding. They roll fast and no punctures so far but for rougher trails and mud you would need knobblier tyres.

We got 32mm Gatorskins on both our bikes which originally had 35mm Conti Speed Cross tyres. Looks absolutely fine.

Just swapped out the 35mm Marathon Deluxe on my CX Team for some 28mm 4Seasons and it looks great. Makes a big difference to the weight and feel of the bike too.
