Name this Part Please

Hi there, What do you call the the steel bolt that you have to loosen to get the back wheel off? I for some reason loosened it aswell as took it completely off and then stupidly decided to leave it down somewhere and ended up loosing it. I need to get a new one of these so the name of this part and where ta get one would be greatly appreciated! Thank You

Usually it is called the skewer.

However on a more empathetic day I call mine John. The front one is Bill.

Is it just an ordinary nut or part of a QR?

Could ask for a spare nut assuming it's just an ordinary nut, they might give you one (a spare nut) for nothing.

Its a road bike, do ya know when you go to take off the wheel it want come off unless you either on one side screw a plastic bolt/nut and on the other side this steel clip that you have to turn up to release the bike. I lost them! Need to buy new ones but dont know what they're called!

Ah. Yes. The "clip thing" and nut are known collectively as a skewer. You can get them cheapish at a lbs.

Yep, they be called Skewers, sometimes called QR (quick release) Skewers. If it's just the one side you have lost I could send you one if you want...not pristine but it'll do the job.
