Baldy Go
.............a new venture for me - new front v-brake and cables for the MTB and complete new braki9ng for the TRiban 3!
Mi first time with fussing with cables and all thanks to my eBay all in one cable cutter tool (yeah-yeah-I KNOW but I bought a cheap one just in case cable-cutting wasn't for me!)

So.........I ballsed up the length of the road-bike 'outers'....but then - I'm the original 'measure-once cut twice' chap but got it all right in the end.

So far, this is about as adventurous as I've got with Bicycle DIY. I've jiggled and replaced just about everything that fits with allen bolts-but this is the first time I've done any cutty-fittee stuff.

All that is left now is the mystery of bottom bracket tools and chain whips!

Hours of fun.....................
.................................................and secretly-I'm quite proud of miself

Remeber, for all fettling jobs YouTube is your friend.

FWIW in 39 years I've never owned a pair of cable cutters myself.

Bit of fettling for me too today! New pair of Shimano R500 wheels fitted (well I put them on the bike after someone else had moved over the casette and qr skewers!!!!). I did have to move the brake blocks down a millimeter or two so felt like I had really put my all in...in fact I took myself to the pub to reward myself!!!

I had my first cabling adventure last night too, rerouting some shifter and brake cables, after some unsupervised assembler/assassin had made quite a mess. I think he didn't have any cable cutters either. I think he may not have even realized you can actually cut a cable.

It was interesting though, learned a little about EZ Fire plus shifters too.

Replaced my poor performing canti brake shoes with Kool Stop Eagle 2's. What a difference, holy cow even the first stop was eye bulging. Got better over my 25 mile ride. Well pleased.

Messing with bikes on the stand is almost as much fun as riding them

I agree. After watching my home made bike stand attempt sit in an unassembled pile of parts on my carport for over a year, I saw one on Amazon for $50 and ordered it. It is very nice for the money, took about five minutes to assemble. I maybe would have liked a little different clamp system to hold the bike's tube if I were using it professionally but for the price I am very happy. I have about as much money and much more time in that pile of diy bike stand parts on my carport. My bikes are getting dialed in nicely now and I am learning all sorts of things on youtube.
