N+1 stuff

As cyclists, we have reasons - or are they excuses? - to have n+1 bikes.

Are there other n+1 things we get, like cars or watches or whatever? Maybe you need a 4x4 car and a sports car and commuter car and a winter car and so on. Or a dress watch and a work watch and a sports watch.

Or does n+1 only apply for bikes, because, on a bike forum, that's what we enjoy?

One CF Martin acoustic was the gateway to a world of exotic tonewoods and bodyshapes, and I started to fill in 'gaps' in my collection that probably weren't there. Do you really need an 0-sized guitar when you've already got a parlour guitar? Do you really need a gravel bike when you've got a CX bike? In the end I simplified and settled on a small, carefully-chosen collection of acoustics and try to buy only strings from my local music shop

A quick google reveals that camera buffs have a similar problem... but then, if it's not hurting anyone physically, emotionally or financially is it a problem?
