hi all,

i'm on a bet with the wife....no booze in 2011... i get a new toy. now this bike really will be a toy as i have two bikes that cover my current commuting needs. i have a scott genius ltd but tbh i've not ridden her much in 2010 and she is up for sale. i've recently bought a giant tcx1 for the winter as my brommie just couldn't cut it safely in the snow and ice.

the tcx1 will (and already has) get me off road enough to satisfy my off road urges.

i'm thinking that i enjoy road riding and building up mileage more than i thought. the tcx1 has just confirmed it really.

my question is, will a full road bike be much different than my tcx1 with 23mm summer tyres on? or will it be a waste of money? i'm looking at about £1500 to £2k sometime in summer.

the other silly option i've thought about is a surly pugsley, but that was only fleeting.

Build one up yourself and get the spec that you want.

i could do, once i decide what tickles my fancy. i'm really taken with my giant tcx1 and how it has enhanced my road riding. does anyone own both a cx and a road bike, if so, is there a vast difference in how the cx feels with 23mm tyres and the road bike? would i be less tired after 100miles?

If you get one that does that, I want the specifications please!
