Anyone else use the above for counting calories and helping with diet?

I've been using it for about a year and a half now and have dropped nearly 7st in that time, I could have probably done it a bit quicker if I still didn't eat some c**p foods but oh well.

If anyone else does use it and wants some buddies

I've only started, 6lbs down, 15 to go. I like it and hate it at the same time. I'm being moderately aggressive in my calorie cut, so I'm quite hungry all the time, but I do like it because it makes me stop when I'm about to eat an entire packet of biscuits.

I have been using myfitnesspal pal for a couple of years now. I find it concentrates the mind on how much you actually eat to what you think you eat!
Seeing it logged in one place is good motivator to try and stick to sensible amounts. I freely admit that I am not religious in logging every mouthful these days but then I don't always log my calories out as exercise so it probably balances out. I find it quick and easy to log my food intake and it helps me stay on track for maintaining my weight.

Just started using this again as there are few others within the workplace using it. It now also links to Strava which is handy. What I do like about it is that you can immediatly see where the extra calories are coming from. It is a wee bit tiresome having to input/scan barcodes etc but how else can you do it and its quick and simple to do. Have set it up to see if I can drop from 95kg to 90kg so will see how it goes. Trying to save some calories through the week so I can have a wee tipple at weekends. What I have noticed is that even cycling everyday that my snacking is the obvious issue as I`ve miantained weight even though I use about 1000 cal cycling. Can see it being very usefull.

I did try it for a couple of months, but found it a pain tbh. I don't eat packaged food at all. I make everything from scratch (right down to pastry - mostly because I'm allergic to dairy products but also because I was brought up that way) and got really fed up of constantly having to enter my recipes, (and track down each of the ingredients) to calculate the calories in something and I also found a lot of people can't convert mg to grams so often sodium, in particular, was often wrong, or they hadn't entered any of the nutritional information for the 'product'. I was trying hard to track exactly how much potassium I got into my diet (about 1/3 of what it is meant to be) and spent way too long trying to update other people's figures. I abandoned it in the end and it hasn't really made any difference. Recently, I wanted to shed a few kg's and in the last 4 weeks I have lost 4kg without it, just by cutting back and keeping the exercise up. But I can see how it would help some people.

Yes, started using it at the end of February and have since lost 38lbs so I like to think it works! I do think I could've lost more, but I still eat and drink a fair bit at the weekends so with my life style I couldn't really ask for much more in such a short space of time.

I started using it over a year ago and combined with healthier eating and more exercise I lost 5 stone - it does help you focus on your calorie goal for the day

i kind of disagree with its measurements when it comes to cycling, i mean how come i do intensive cycling for 40 to 45 minutes and it counts at 250ish calories.

depends on your own physical aspects as well. Strava has me burning approx 600 cals, on an hrs commute. Of course thats going quicker than your normal commuter but the difference taking it easy is not huge. Working on the basis that you burn 30-40 cals a mile cycling it ain`t far wrong. The point is its consistant with me. How far are you travelling in 45 mins ? What you need to pay attention to I think is when calculating the calories in and out, don`t sail close to the edge . I`m getting by at the moment through the week by eating approx my dailly quote of 2500 but also burning of over 1000 cycling. Leaves room for error and a wee treat if I so like. Your margins maybe closer than mine!
