It does, but because there is so much money raised from VED and put into central funds, it should perhaps say 'Now go and fix some Fu**ing potholes, cut NHS waiting lists and silver line your index linked pension', but the writing would be really small if said that so perhaps the message would be lost :biggrin:

Fallacy - The income for VED is in fact LESS than spent on road building!

Depending o who you refer to the real "cost" of motoring to the tax pool is about £1000 pound a year subsidy for each vehicle!

Would be interested to see some official stats on this as VED, fuel duty insurance tax etc add up to about 5 times the road building and repair budget IIRC.

I'm sure the chap displaying the sticker meant "I've paid into the fund of general taxation from which road building and maintenance is paid for" really, he's just put it somewhere where it's easy to read...
