I could have asked this in the recumbent forums since we'd get wet in different places but when it rains it rains and you get wet everywhere really don't you.

My neighbour suggested a pair of chavvy tracky bottoms over my trousers cos unless it's totally chucking it down the water won't go through the material and they dry quickly afterwards even if stuck in your bag. As for the top I'm not against wearing a bin bag, hey I'm gonna get stared at anyway:tongue:

What do you guys think? And use yourselves?

I have never ridden a recumbent but the rain is just as wet  Wear the tracksuit bottoms instead of your trousers so you have something dry to change into after and as you say they will dry quickly if your still riding when the rain stops the wind and heat from your body will dry them in minutes.

Binbag will keep rain out but you will be soaked in sweat instead,

You either need good quality breathable waterproofs or accept you will get wet and/or sweaty.

Dont know if a rain cape is ok on a recumbent or if you would end up with a puddle forming on your lap.

For light rain, I just wear a jacket and rely on the fairing to keep my legs dry. For heavy rain, I wear waterproof trousers also. Both jacket and trousers are eVent, which is pricey but well worth it for the amazing breathability (far superior to Goretex).
