I`v got my mtb for trails/towpaths and my hybrid for commuting, but I had an itch to scratch. I wanted something less weighty and more sporty to travel longer distances with less of an effort. I was a little apprehensive about getting a road bike concerning the drop bars, gear shifting, braking, handling, skinny tyres, comfort, etc, etc... but I need not have been. I took one for a test ride around the village and slowly came to grips with the gear changing, breaking and finding a comfortable posture.
To cut a long story short, I got my hands on a used Wilier Triestina Escape for the princely sum of £239 (not a bad price to pay for an introduction into road cycling) this morning and took her out for a planned 6 mile ride this afternoon that turned out to be a 20+ mile joyride
