So, yesterday I finally decided that instead of taking public transport to my girlfriends house I'd cycle, I'd been waiting for a nice day for ages and that day never seemed to come, but yesterday seemed semi-nice (in that it wasn't forecast to rain), about 5km in it started to absolutely pour down and for the whole hour it was rainy and wet, I only saw two other cyclists on the road during the whole journey (Who looked like they were touring), but anyway I just find it kinda ironic I'd been waiting for the perfect day and I decided to go when it was pouring down and windy and I actually enjoyed it, it's a really nice ride all the way with only part of a B road to go on. My average speed also got quicker (Was cycling 25km/h or there about, did it in 59 mins), it seems I cycle faster over longer periods of time? And all this on a mountain bike. I really want a road bike now

Good for you. As you have noticed after a while the ride is not an issue (unless you have rim brakes)

Well done you! I have still to be out in the rain but it is really a case of over matter. When I had my horse I wouldn't plan to set out in it but have on occasions come back soaked to the skin having had a really nice time.

On my bike ....mmm not so sure about the slippery roads yet.

Cycled back today, and it was harder (probably due to my legs being tired from the previous day and there is a couple of big hills to get up near the beginning making it hard to 'warm up') but I still enjoyed it and once I got going I was fine, and I never noticed what nice views there was as I was just concentrating on getting to point B yesterday with the rain, the route was also more active, with people mowing their lawns and wandering about, got a really hearty wave from an old fellow cutting his grass. It certainly won't be the last time I cycle, I'll be doing it any time I can.

The only downside was that I nearly got run over when going down a large dip with an impatient driver passing me incredibly closely on a badly maintained road. Naturally I shouted at the driver and he braked and looked through his mirrors then continued on, I think he maybe thought he ran me over? Which means he must have known he was doing something risky....*sigh* It seems you can't escape them wherever you go.
