Hi all, I have made a few posts on here but never introduced myself. I have been cycling for about 10 years now and last year my hardtail was nicked so got a road bike as a replacement and boy am I glad. I just love being able to whizz along with much much less effort.

Anyway down to a few questions;

1) I have just bought a new wheelset for my bike and it arrived today, am very happy with its the Miche Race wheels. Took it down my lbs to get some tyres and he used what looked like electrical tape instead of rim tape. I was just wondering if this is ok to do as haven't heard of it before.

2) I have 8 speed sti shifters and will need a new cassette for the wheel, I presume the freehub is a 10 speed and so an 8 won't fit without spacers, just wondering about the best way to do this, either fit a 9 speed and just don't use the smallest ring?

Thanks in advance :tongue:

Why do you presume the freehub is a ten speed if the shifters are eight speed? How many gears do you have at the back?

You can get the same cassette for the rear wheel. Once you have taken the cassette off the hub,just take it down to the LBS and get a replacement. There are differing sized rings you can get should you want to change the ratios. If you need a new freehub, you can get one for 8/9/10 speed as required. Once again your LBS will should have the parts. Hope this helps.
