Hi everyone,

Can anyone tell me if there is a relationship between the saddle position (up/down, forward/back) and the muscle groups used when cycling?

Currently I feel it's all in the quads and I'm not working my lower, ham strings or gluts at all. I feel I might be losing power by not utilising my whole leg.

Would adjusting the saddle position make any difference to this? If not, is there anything I can do to try to engadge my whole leg?

Good question, i feel the same, thighs are killing at the end of a ride but not feeling my glutes at all.

Sounds like the saddle is at the wrong height?

According to my physio, cycling good for quads and calves, but not so good for hamstrings, hence stretching important to stop them shortening

Hi,

Or the simple amswer is no. Makes next to no difference in what your
actually doing if your saddle is set to anything that makes any sensible
sense. Just get used to it for a decent saddle position, everything will
even out with exercise, and forget such utter nonsense about leg use.

rgds, sreten.

Optimum saddle position has nothing to do with "leg use".
Leg extension (for saddle hieght) and then a load of
rather dubious stuff led by KOPS. I have my merhod.
