Morning all. Bit of a late night as I got caught up watching something on BBC4. Another bright & sunny but cold day in prospect so I think a slow bimble on the 29er will follow later today.

Owwwwwwwwwww, my eyes!!!

Gawd @Jenkins that's bloody awful. Bet it feels as cheap as it looks...
Cheap - I'll have you know that's made of finest hand crafted Turkish melamine, perspex & chipboard.
 Does that kind of thing come in to order, and where would it be sold? There’s a photographer called Taryn Simon who worked in JFK Airport for five days and nights photographing confiscated items from passengers and international mail. It’s all in a forensic style, every item is classified and the resultant book is fascinating, in a phone directory kind of way. I don’t think there’s a category for Coffee Tables: Designer Fake though. I shall look and report back.
It's probably the sort of thing sold online by a very discerning furniture retailer - this was one of 20 in the container. Some very odd things are counterfeited - alongside the normal (and potentially dangerous) fakes of things like Apple Mac chargers, we detained some mobile phones in the shape of Ferrari sports cars and some micro (prison) phones with well known branding.

As ranted about mentioned on Thursday, I offered to go in to work on Friday to sort out a load of previously identified goods being imported for those of questionable taste. Who in their right mind would want a 6' x 3' Versace table and set of 6 chairs in their living room (fake obviously - Versace have confirmed it's not something they make!). Just the thing to go with the mirrored 'Chanel' side tables we stopped a few years ago as now installed in our tea point/rest area at work.

Oh my, a crime against good taste if ever I saw one.

I wonder what the prospective owners think they're communicating to others by buying these things?

Was that Transatlantic Sessions and then the programme about Mexican Music? The Sessions were brilliant, and the the Mexican one was even more brilliant.

I usually switch the television off at 11pm, but that was a worthy exception.

I'm 4ft 11 - it's far easier to reach the bottom than the top

And in any case, how the blazes am I going to get a cherry picker into the middle of a wood?

I see someone has already made the suggestion.

I saw somebody recently well up a tall tree with a chainsaw. No cherry picker. Seemed to have climbed up somehow with a waist belt and spikes on his feet I think. He did have a safety rope which he took up and attached before starting work.

I watched some guys taking down trees locally a while ago. Not sure they have any imagination.

Calmac or rather one of their ferries get praise for a change.
They waited on traffic for the last ferry yesterday as traffic was delayed by an RTC at Lix Toll. Extensive damage to property apparently but no injuries reported.
I doubt it would happen in summer but the crew of MVLoch Frisa are recruited locally so more sympathy for such problems.
Knowing the ones praising the boat crew they were probably doing a bat out of h—- impersonation to try to make the ferry but passengers phoning in asked them to wait.
I have done some fast runs myself to make the last boat on a Friday but never broke the speed limits as the VW 1600cc aircooled was not really capable of that especially with a full load.

Another brrrrrrrrrrrright and chhhhhhhhhilly day here chez Casa Reynard.

Slept well, treated myself to a bit of a lie-in, then went and hauled in all the wood that I cut yesterday. I shall be turning some of it into logs this afternoon, as it's better quality than the bullace I brought in the other day (oak and ash), will last longer in the fire and will burn hotter.

Right now though, I has a hungry. Luncheon time.
