I know it's the way everyone does it and it's what the etiquette books prescribe, but I really hate it when the knife is turned in like that. It looks so cramped and claustrophobic and petty-minded. I have a friend, Lisette, who always turns all the knives on the table that way even though I have laid them out in a more relaxed, serrations on the outside, fashion. Perhaps "hate" is an understatement.

Nothing to do with etiquette, we just put the cutlery on the table to use simple as that.

Thank you all for the hugs.

I've never comforted someone when they were dying let alone seen a dead body. I feel a bit more grown up in a strange sort of way.

Also yesterday there was due to be a hearing in respect of a grievance I've brought at work. I'm glad the union rep persuaded me to ask for a postponement.

A relaxing day is in order.

I love the support on this forum - top lads and lasses!

A friend woke up in the night earlier this year to discover her husband having a heart attack. Sadly he didn't survive, but she's said the same thing: it's not just the bereavement but being there to witness the moment that C stopped being C.

Some trite advice: hang in there, don't push yourself too hard, and allow yourself to feel what you need to feel in order to process everything.

^^^^ yes this. It is important to let yourself do what you feel you need to do and feel. The friend that you no longer see is still and always will be your friend and you will always carry them with you.
