Morning all. Just seen my OH off to work and the forecast today is for our hottest day in Australia yet! :heat: A stunning 23C at the Canberra AirPort (closest meteorological OP). We are usually 2-3C lower but even inside managed 21C yesterday here.... Didn't light the fire last night, and there is a chance we may not need to tonight either! :highfive:

But next week we are due to be back to frosts overnight (1C forecast which means -1C max for us overnight). :cold:

Well that is probably me done again until Monday... plenty of work to do around the place. Need to get the place cleaner for the inspection in 11 days time and I have 2 batches of cashew nut cheese on the go, want to get the sourdough starter going so I have a sourdough preferment for tomorrow to make some bread with on either Saturday or more likely Sunday and then there is the small case of the garden and continuing to dig out the tree roots from anywhere and everywhere that holds any soil for flower or veg beds. It is taking a very long time to do with my bad back and i'm under the weather again... very sore ribs down my right side, I may have strained something in a really bad coughing fit the other night (as in that bad I throw up or pass out... its my bronchiectasis or tracheomalacia - can't quite remember which that causes that...) Also I need to write a few more blog posts this morning because our families are actually reading them!

Pre dinner nibbles at Costco : salmon paste on toasted ciabatta, greek yoghurt with chia seeds, seasoned fries, frazzles and tangtastic sweets.

I bet they tasted better than the finger nails the young bloke ate all the way home from York to Leeds on the train today.I was returning from Scarborough, when at York this young chap got on and sat opposite me.He fiddled with his phone but devoured his fingernails all the way home.It was a sight to behold,i mean he really got stuck in.Quite honestly it was revolting,it was like watching someone eating spare ribs.

Feel pooped just reading what you are doing/have got to do. Hope the rib strain eases and you start getting some 24hr warmth!

One of my ex colleagues used to bite her nails. I told her every time I saw her doing it I would smack her hand. Took three months but she stopped!

no-one on the exciting news thread will understand this, but my 6yr old chook has just lain her first egg here! She called Chatty Charmaine, I know it doesn't quite work with Harriet Houdini (HH), Jealous Jane (JJ), Just Jennie (JJ2) and Vindictive Vickie (VV), but I was at a loss as to what else to call here and well she is vocal...

That just leaves the really awkward one (Vindictive Vickie) to lay an egg, who is trying hard to brood anything (3yrs old) and everything constantly and bullying the others (except the top 6yrs old chook) off their eggs or even before they have even lain, and out of the nesting boxes! And to the point where they are not getting enough food - I'm having to separate them and feed them separately to ensure they are OK)

Not that I was even expecting the 6yr old to lay at all... She was here to retire.

Morning, it is grey outside today and I am sat down with a kitten on my lap. I will get up in a minute and do some washing up and then perhaps go and do a bit of decorating in the small bedroom, it is lovely, buttercup yellow! I thought that I was going to get Arc Eye from being in there too long. I had better not take the Marigolds up with me as they might get lost.

I rode it on the road as well, and it didn't seem that heavy really. The tyres are only at about 15psi (these bikes were designed for use on snow, and can run on 6psi) so they make a strange sound, as though they are sticking to the road. The weight is kept down by having surprisingly few spokes, attached to one side of the rim only, and the rims have large holes through which the tough rim tape bulges - I thought the ovals in the photo were hard, but they're not, they go in when you push them.

What's the idea of those holes in the rims? Is it a weight saving thing (they must be pretty big rims) or is it something that helps the performance?

Here is a picture of the clarinet that I picked up it is different to my other one, it is shorter and uses the Albert system for the keys. It isn't in bad condition for one which may be one hundred years old, the case is made out of leather and was in a sad state but has cleaned up quite well.
