I had a good search and couldn't find anything about this. Sorry if I missed something.
I'm training for 480 miles in 6 days. I've been going about it haphazardly, which I'm fine with, and also not getting out as much over summer as I should have.
Anyway, I've done 71 and 88 miles in a day, but I'm not up to doing that sort of distance for 6 days yet. I know I need miles in the saddle, but does it matter how I distribute them? This week I did 31, 53, 60 and 43 miles on consecutive days. For what I'm after, do you know how that compares to doing one or two big rides in a week? What about lots of 10-20 mile ones?
Oh and while I'm asking, when I rode 71 miles I felt pretty much fine when I got home, and went out for my weekly commute the next day (came to about 32 miles total). My legs weren't really sore but I felt like they had a lot less power and it sucked. After that I skived off badly and didn't even try to take the bike out for two weeks, at which point I realised both my tyres were flat (first ever punctures for me). Given that I'm not very observant and rode around for years on under 25psi (hand pump and not knowing any better), how likely do you think it is that I picked up those punctures on the 71 mile day, and should I blame them for my legs feeling rubbish?
