Mudguards

Hi there. I bought these clip on mudguards. What is the best way to sort out the rubber thingy as it gets in the way of the spokes and is noisy and annoying?

I think they are supposed to be cut down.

That's what I did with mine.

Cut the end of or double it back on itself if it will stay put.

Also worth putting some protection under the brackets. Ifound that they damage the paintwork when I used the same fixings

My fasteners are upside down compared to your images, so the spare points away from spokes (and suspect might be ergonomically easier to clip on. Check if you can switch them over.

Can you not move the fasteners round a bit, so that the free ends are parallel to the wheels? This may involve undoing them and sliding them through the notches where they attach to the 'guards.
